Tennessee Leader
Ryan was elected to the Tennessee General Assembly in November of 2010 as a part of the new “Republican Majority” and the consequent super majority in 2012. During his tenure in the House of Representatives, they have balanced the state’s budget, reduced sales tax three times and eliminated the Death and Inheritance Tax. All this while doubling the rainy-day fund and maintaining one of the highest bond ratings in the USA. These policies have helped make Tennessee one of the best states for job growth.
Business Owner
After graduating from Carson-Newman University, Ryan went to work for Georgia Woven Products, Inc. in Dalton, GA as a sales representative. Ryan quickly put his hard work, ethics and leadership skills to use and rose to the position of Vice-President and was ultimately made partner of GWP, Inc.
Ryan is the Director of Business Development for J&S Construction Company. In his 19 years with J&S, Ryan has risen to the top of the company in new business development and has enjoyed unparalleled success within the company.
Community and Family Man
Ryan has been married to his wife, Abby, for 20 years, and they have two children, Tyson and Carson. When not spending time coaching his son’s club soccer team and attending his daughter’s dance and theatre performances, Ryan enjoys spending time traveling and enjoying the outdoors.
Ryan’s desire to serve his community has always come first. While working as councilman, he started a series of events to build community and raise money for the redevelopment of the downtown park. Ryan believes in the principle that “in order to be the greatest, you must first be the servant of all.”
